What this will also do is increase the odds that your website will come out when someone searches for your particular keywords.

Yeah Im kinda thinking that this wave of location based social networking will soon fizzle out. Sometimes Its just silly you know? I just checked in at McDonalds! Who really cares!

What I think will get alot of traction over the next few years is companies utilizing geo-targeting within their web interfaces as a way to win customers and provide a great experience. We conduct alot of multivariate testing and in doing so see that with sites that tailor by geo target, these conversion rates are alot higher.

A great tool to do free geo targeting is BT Buckets…check it out

I have to be honest and say that I dont exactly like all the useless information that people seem to want posted online, but sometimes it can be fun I guess.
Speaking as someone trying to get into marketing though, I do appreciate that there could be benefits in terms of traffic and seo.
Final question – in a world gone mad, is there much point being the only sane one left?
